The Little Bookshop of Love Stories by Jaimie Admans
This is a book for anyone who loves books passionately, who believes in the magic of books and how they can transport you into other realms. Who believes that love stories really can come true, even to the most ordinary of people in the most extraordinary way. If you love books as much as I do you won't be able to put this down, and you will be looking for your nearest second hand bookshop!Hallie is having the worst day ever - fired from her job due to her inherent clumsyness, living in a dingy flat with a horrible flatmate who eats all her food, and a mother who keeps trying to matchmake with the most unsuitable of men. Her only escape is books - and lots of them. So much so that she is on first name terms with the owner of the local bookshop in the village near her mum.
When Hallie is told she was the winner of the raffle in the bookshop and is now the owner of both the shop and the flat above, and a rather unusual goldfish called Heathcliff, she thinks things can't get any better. However when an extremely gorgeous, and talented (and also more than a little clumsy) illustrator bursts in through the door and falls in a heap at her feet, life starts to look up. The bookshop was failing but when Hallie reads some of the beautiful inscriptions in the second hand books, she has an idea to turn the finances around.
However in real life things don't always run smoothly, and Heathcliff 5th is more than a little interested in other species, and Hallie can't be sure that the dashing Dimitri is all he seems either.
If you read one summer romance this year, read this one. You won't be sorry. You will laugh, cry, and have many 'aha I thought so' moments. Enjoy.
